For armed operations in hostile environments (like space), militaries in Terran Space use what's called "EVA level IV". The Star Hunters call it boarding armor, because it's used to board pirate ships. A combination of space suit and combat armor, it features a flip-up faceplate and a "fanny pack" to keep a tail coiled up and out of the way.
